I wonder what Eliot Spitzer thinks about Gordon Gekko

Eliot Spitzer is probably the most recognized figure in Wall Street today. I was just checking past National Press Club programs hosted at NPR, and found the recorded speech given by Eliot Spitzer back in this January. I wanted to find out what he has to say and I listened to the speech.

Eliot Spitzer is known as a tough prosecutor; in fact, many view him as one of the toughest prosecutors in recent years. That was my impression as well, and that's what I expected to hear in his speech, but that was not what I heard. I have to admit that much of what he spoke about was common sense. He basically says that much of Wall Street (and most of financial industry) is corrupt, and he's right. When Enron stock and WorldCom stock prices were sky-rocketing, no one said anything about it. In retrospect, there was a huge mess in Wall Street, and the place was really corrupt (and it still is). SEC did nothing. Neither did all other (presumably) independent industry regulatory bodies. Eliot Spitzer is right about what he's been saying. After I listened to the speech, I had to like Eliot Spitzer. He is right. He is honest.

... with that said, "Wall Street" is still one of my favorite movies. Gordon Gekko is actually a corrupt investor, but I just do not see Gordon Gekko that way. To this day, Gordon Gekko is a legend in Wall Street as if he were an actual legend who did exist in Wall Street. I wonder what Eliot Spitzer thinks about Gordon Gekko.
