The Corporation
One of the most powerful films that I've watched. I don't want to be too political, and subsequently, I do not want to focus on political films too much in this blog, but this is a film that I definitely want to mention here.
The film, as the title "The Corporation" suggests, is the story of the corporation. The corporation is a relatively new institution in human history, as it became the corporation that we know today in later days of the industrial revolution, which took place only a shortly over a century ago. The corporation is almost like a person in today's legal system, yet there is almost no regulation on the existence of the corporation. I do not want to portray the corporation as an evil entity, since most people in the corporation are descent people and some corporations do serve the public interest; however, the film tells us how monstrous the corporation has become today. Many people may not agree with the view, but if so, my guess is that it is because they do not want to accept the view, as we live in the world of market economy that is essentially driven by these corporations, and we provide so much of our time, energy, knowledge and skills to these corporations.
I suppose that one can watch the film as an activist film, but this is also a well directed documentary film. Clear message, intelligently argued thesis, and number of great evidences. You may not laugh about what you see in the film, because most of the film deals with very serious issues and they are a real threat to this generation and the coming generations of human beings, but there are moments that you feel like crying; it's because the story told is such a sad tale. It is also because the story told restores the faith in human beings and it is a very touching story.

I briefly touched on the fact that there aren't that many films based on modern business or entrepreneurs' lives, while many of entrepreneurs who created the foundation of the 20th century lived extraordinary lives. The Corporation is a film that finally came out and tells a story about business; it has true quality. But it is sad that this business film tells us that today's business is truly a monster and the monster is literally destroying the entire planet. I have to praise the film "The Corporation" nonetheless. As I mentioned at the beginning of this blog, I say that this is one of the most powerful films that I've watched.
