The Incredibles isn't so incredible
First, I want to make this clear; The Incredibles is a fun movie. It's a good movie. But I do not think that it's a great movie, and I wrote about that a couple of days ago. I wanted to find out what other people think about The Incredibles, and I did some search. Apparently, most people really liked the movie, but there are a few who disagree including Little Green Men. Little Green Men made an interesting comment.
Why bother criticizing The Incredibles, by the way? I guess that this was one of moments that I happen to disagree with everyone else, yet I felt like I was right, so it kind of bothered me. And that's probably why I wanted to make another comment on The Incredibles.
... it's pretty clear from the outset that the movie already has a message in mind: talent (in this case super powers) should never be suppressed. While it's good that the movie's consistent, it's slightly disappointing that it doesn't give a more balanced treatment to the central issue; it begs questions like: how do we deal with a gifted liar?Good point. The message is a little too predictable, and also it lacks depth. There is nothing philosophical about it, nor is there anything enlightening. It's almost like the most important message in the movie doesn't exist.
