Is Matt Damon such a great actor?

I wrote how I liked The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Identity. Besides these two, there are quite a few films featuring Matt Damon that I like including Ocean's Eleven, Dogma, Rounders, Saving Private Ryan and Good Will Hunting (there are actually more, but he only played small roles). I like the fact that he has intellect. I like the fact that he does his own stunts. I can think about many other things that I like about him. However, I have hard time remembering characters that he played well and are very different. When I think about a great actor at around his age like Edward Norton, I can remember several characters that he played and are very different. I have no intension of criticizing Matt Damon's acting skills, but when I was watching The Bourne Supremacy with Paul Greengrass, the director's commentary, I heard Paul Greengrass's praising Matt Damon's acting skills. He was really good in The Bourne Supremacy, but is he a great actor? Again, I have no intension of criticizing Matt Damon's acting skills, but it's an honest question that I ask as a film fan.
