Flaws in Capitalism
There are a lot of movies in different genres. There are action and adventure movies. There are comedies and horrors. There are science fiction movies. There are many good movies in each genre, but one thing that I'd like to see in movies is what exists in reality yet what we do not notice easily. I was watching The Corporation for the second time a couple of days ago. The movie's DVD has extra features, so I watched those extra features as well. One thing that the movie tries to explore is flaws in capitalism. Timely example is the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina. (How the society treats those who do not have is just horrendous. Those who do not have exist because of flaws in capitalism. Those who lost and end up not having are not treated properly, either, and this is also a result of flaws in capitalism. Portraying one ethic group's survival as a looting and the other group's survival as a necessity is also partially a result of flaws in capitalism.) The tragedy is a result of flaws in capitalism, and that is pretty clear; however, most people do not see flaws, and this is why movies like The Corporation is important and they deserve a lot of credit. Capturing and displaying what exists in reality yet what we do not notice easily is very important and movies that do that have great value. I'd like to see many more movies like that.
