Couldn't finish watching City of God

I rented City of God on DVD today. Great movie, but I could not finish watching the movie. Apparently DVD was scratched, and it paused number of times. When the movie reached 1 hr 33 min, DVD basically stopped playing. Ok, DVD was still moving, but it played for about 1 second and paused for 20 seconds or so. It was unwatchable. *** big sigh *** DVD, another over-hyped lousy invention to rip off consumers.
